The Club’s Sardinade: a classic that marks the end of the season

Every year in August, we close the season with an event that everyone has marked on their calendar: the Sardinade of the Club Nautique Estartit, and this 2025 edition did not disappoint anyone. The smell of the grill and the murmur of people arriving at the port already announced a special evening, full of reunions and that warmth that only arises when the community gathers at the Club’s restaurant.

The grilled sardines were, as always, the undisputed protagonists. The best part, however, was sharing them: long tables, shared laughter, and conversations that stretched on as the sun disappeared beyond the horizon.

The menu of the night

The club’s sardine feast was celebrated in a festive and family-friendly atmosphere, with a large attendance of members and friends. The event took place at the Club Nàutic restaurant, a cozy and emblematic venue where everyone was able to enjoy excellent gastronomy in an unbeatable seaside setting. As for the menu of the sardine feast, it began with some typical and much-appreciated starters: high-quality bread with tomato and a fresh, varied salad, perfect for whetting the appetite and sharing a meal in a spirit of togetherness.

The main course could be none other than sardines, carefully prepared and served to perfection, becoming the true stars of the day. Their intense, traditional flavor reminded everyone of the seafaring essence and Mediterranean spirit that define this kind of gathering. To conclude the menu, grapes were served to everyone as dessert. A simple yet highly symbolic choice, adding freshness and a healthy touch, while also evoking the culinary traditions of our land.

Maritime and popular origin

The sardinade is one of the most deeply rooted popular celebrations along the Catalan coast and in many inland villages. It is a collective gathering where sardines, grilled over an open fire, take center stage. But the sardinade is much more than a meal: it is a social and community event that blends gastronomy, festivity, and tradition. It was born in fishing villages, where sardines were abundant, affordable, and easy to prepare. When the boats returned to port with the day’s catch, part of the fish was set aside to be shared with the community. Over time, this custom evolved into a festive ritual that still today brings together families, friends, and neighbors around the fire.

A Mediterranean treasure for health

Sardines are a true treasure of the Mediterranean diet and a food worth incorporating regularly into the table thanks to their numerous health benefits. They are rich in omega-3 fatty acids, which contribute to the proper functioning of the heart and brain, and provide a large amount of high-quality protein, ideal for maintaining strength and daily energy. They are also an excellent source of vitamin D, essential for strong bones and a healthy immune system; vitamin B12, key for vitality and energy production; and vitamin A, which helps protect eyesight and skin. In addition, sardines contain important minerals such as calcium, phosphorus, magnesium, iron, and selenium, which strengthen the body and promote nutritional balance.

Looking ahead

This last gastronomic gathering was much more than a dinner: it was a farewell to the summer of 2025 that turned out to be unforgettable, filled with good moments and memories we will never forget. Now all that remains is to wait for the next one, knowing that each year it gives us much more than food. It brings us belonging, tradition, and shared joy.
