Every September, l’Estartit transforms into a movie-like stage: streets filled with music, fire, landings, and tales of the sea. The Pirates and Corsairs Fair in the Medes Islands is one of our town’s most beloved and deep-rooted celebrations, a tradition that reminds us of the seafaring and corsair past of this corner of the Costa Brava. In 2025, we once again enjoyed a magical weekend, where both young and old turned into real pirates. And one of the experiences that truly thrilled the most adventurous: the pirate ship outing organized by our Club!
A fair that takes us back centuries
The history of pirates and corsairs is part of the soul of l’Estartit. During the fair, the town’s streets come alive with stalls, performances, parades, and characters that take us straight back to the 16th century. The traditional pirate landing and the spectacular Night of Fire are moments everyone eagerly awaits. These are experiences that blend history, legend, and popular celebration, reminding us year after year of the importance of this seafaring legacy.
Amidst this atmosphere, our Club wanted to offer, once again, an authentic and 100% seafaring experience. Four groups of pirates boarded our sailboat Fillao, determined to uncover the secrets of the Medes Islands. With the wind in the sails and their adventurous spirit wide awake, these crews enjoyed a unique voyage: spectacular landscapes, tales of corsairs, and the thrill of sailing through a place full of magic and legends. Pirate flags proudly waved on the Fillao, turning it all into an experience that will remain engraved in the memory of all who took part.
More than a festival: a legacy of history, tradition, and belonging
For the Club Nàutic Estartit, taking part in this fair is much more than organizing an activity. It is about reaffirming the importance of our history, keeping tradition alive, and strengthening the sense of community and belonging. The Pirates and Corsairs Fair is a shared pride: it reminds us where we come from and everything the sea has meant to us. And it is precisely this that inspires us to continue offering nautical experiences that connect with the territory, culture, and nature.

Your energy, your smiles, and your adventurous spirit turned each outing into an unforgettable experience. And we can’t forget the many pirates who came fully dressed up, with costumes and flags that made us feel like we were inside a real movie: we love seeing how you get involved and how you help enhance the festive atmosphere even more.
