The Costa Brava experienced one of the most exciting events of the autumn: a weekend full of activities and surprises inspired by the world of pirates. L’Estartit hosted, from September 20 to 22, 2024, the Pirates and Corsairs Fair, an event that promised to transport visitors to a time of maritime adventures and naval battles.

A period atmosphere for the whole family

Those who visited this fair found a completely transformed environment. The streets of the town became a true stage where stories of pirates, corsairs, and sailors were reenacted. The goal of this event was to provide entertainment while also bringing participants closer to the past, revealing details about the lives of these historical figures who dominated the Mediterranean waters for centuries.

There were also activities offered for all ages. The little ones had the chance to become pirates for a weekend, participating in interactive workshops that fostered creativity and curiosity: challenges to solve, scavenger hunts, craft activities… For adults, the fair offered other attractions, such as a local craft market where they could discover all kinds of traditional products.

The nautical adventures and maritime workshops of the Pirates and Corsairs Fair

During the Pirates and Corsairs Fair, the Estartit Yacht Club offered unique activities from the Activity Center, such as the “Sailing Baptism around the Medes Islands.” On board the Fillao ship, participants were able to sail along the coast and explore the surroundings where the legendary pirate stories of the area took place.

In addition, we also held knot-tying workshops for all ages, where we taught how to tie the most common knots used in sailing: from the classic knot to the figure-eight knot. These activities added both a fun and educational value to the event.

The live theatrical performances, the pirate fights, the naval assault scenes recreated with great detail… All of these historical reenactments were among the most highly appreciated attractions, as they allowed spectators to experience firsthand the thrill and adrenaline of high-seas battles!
