This weekend, at Club Nàutic Estartit, we celebrated one of our club’s most iconic competitions: the Travessia Illes Medes – L’Estartit. The event, organized in collaboration with Radikal Swim and sponsored by Sailfish, was a true success in every aspect, from the organization and participation to the vibrant atmosphere that was felt throughout the two days of the event.
A tradition that’s back to stay
After a 7-year break, the Illes Medes, L’Estartit Crossing is back stronger than ever! We’re celebrating its 54th edition with a renewed spirit and a deep desire to bring together swimmers and sea lovers in a truly unique setting: the Montgrí, Medes Islands and Baix Ter Natural Park. Today, nearly a decade since it was last held, we’re relaunching this event with enthusiasm, environmental commitment, and the hope that this edition marks the beginning of a new, more dynamic and participatory chapter.
Mediterranean flair and sporting spirit
Starting from the protected environment of the Illes Medes and finishing at the harbor, the crossing brought together swimmers of all levels, from amateurs to elite athletes. Thanks to the collaboration with Radikal Swim, experts in open water swimming, the event was impeccably organized and delivered a top-tier competition experience, reaffirming the prestige of the Crossing on all fronts.
A weekend full of energy, joy, and unforgettable experiences
The weekend kicked off with the Estartit Xperience training session, followed by race bib collection, a relaxing yoga session, and the technical briefing presentation. Over the two days, the event village became the meeting point for participants and visitors alike. The second day hosted the main event: the competitions, La Brava and La Clàssica. After the crossings, the awards ceremony took place, accompanied by food trucks and topped off with a final concert that brought a perfect close to an unforgettable weekend. Beyond the official program, it’s worth highlighting the vibrant atmosphere and the outstanding work of the organizing team, which helped establish the event as a must-attend summer gathering for swimming and sea enthusiasts.
