Sara Ayats retains her title as junior European vice-champion in the Europa Class at Hayling Island

The sailor from Club Nàutic Estartit, Sara Ayats, earns another international podium! From July 2 to 7, Hayling Island (England) hosted the Youth European Championship of the Europe Class, one of the most important events on the Europe Class calendar for young sailing talents. Among the participants, two sailors from Club Nàutic Estartit made their mark: Sara Ayats, who successfully defended her title as Youth Female Vice-Champion of Europe, and Aina Artalejo, who achieved a commendable 19th place finish.

Optimal conditions for a major regatta

The championship took place under excellent weather conditions, with steady winds ranging from 10 to 15 knots, allowing 9 out of the 10 scheduled races to be completed. This setting was crucial in enabling our sailors to fully showcase their technical and tactical abilities against the international fleet.

The results speak for themselves:

  • Sara Ayats – 2nd place in the women’s ranking
  • Aina Artalejo – 19th place in the women’s ranking

Recognition for the Club Nàutic Estartit team

From the Club, we would like to extend our heartfelt congratulations to Sara, Aina, and their coach Oriol Piña for their excellent work, unwavering dedication, and relentless drive to improve, demonstrated regatta after regatta.

This success is not only an individual achievement but also a testament to the training and support efforts led by Club Nàutic Estartit, committed to fostering young talent in both Catalan and international sailing.

Next stop: the World Championship in Torbole

After this outstanding performance in England, our sailors will enjoy a few days of rest before taking on the next major challenge of the season: the Europa Class World Championship, which will take place from August 1 to 7 in Torbole, on Lake Garda (Italy). We are confident that with the same passion and commitment, our representatives will remain at the highest level of competition and continue to make us proud.
