With Summer in Full Swing, the Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility Has Launched Its New 2025 Nautical Safety Campaign Under the Slogan: “myths that don’t hold water. Don’t be lulled by the siren’s song, listen to the law of the sea.” This initiative, led by the Directorate General of the Merchant Navy and the Maritime Rescue Service, aims primarily to raise awareness among recreational boaters about the real risks of sailing without adhering to basic safety rules, a mission that our Club is fully aligned with.
“Myths that don’t hold water” campaign
This campaign highlights bad habits that have become commonplace, such as consuming alcohol on board, neglecting life jacket maintenance, insufficient supervision of children on deck, or sailing without enough fuel. Far from being harmless, these behaviors are the cause of nearly 50% of maritime emergencies during the summer, according to official data.

Responsibility and sustainability at the Club
This campaign aligns perfectly with our values. Since our founding, we have always promoted responsible, safe, and environmentally respectful navigation within the Montgrí Natural Park, the Medes Islands, and the Baix Ter. We understand that enjoying the sea goes hand in hand with education, prevention, and compliance with regulations. That’s why we strongly support initiatives like this one and actively work to:
- Inform our members and visitors about onboard safety through workshops, informative signage, and best practice guides.
- Ensure the proper condition of facilities and vessels through regular inspections and maintenance protocols.
- Promote respect for the marine environment by aligning every nautical activity with our sustainability principles and environmental commitment.
At Club Nàutic Estartit, we fully support this campaign with the conviction that conscious navigation saves lives. We firmly believe in its essential goal: to reduce accidents at sea while raising awareness among boaters and water sports enthusiasts about the importance of following the rules, without sacrificing the joy of leisure at sea.
