The Raquero: the ultimate dinghy in sailing schools

The Raquero is a light sailing boat specially designed for learning and collective sailing. Measuring about 4.75 meters in length and with capacity for 4 to 6 crew members, it is commonly used in sailing schools, such as at the Club Nàutic Estartit, as well as in training initiatives where students take their first steps into the world of sailing. Its stability, sturdiness, and ease of handling make it an ideal tool for learning, while also being versatile enough to sail safely both in light winds and in more demanding conditions. It is therefore no surprise that it also has its own competitive circuit, such as the Raquero Cup.

Learning to sail with a boat like the Raquero is a formative and enriching experience, as it allows students to grasp the fundamentals of sailing in a direct, practical, and enjoyable way. On board, beginners acquire essential basic knowledge: recognizing the direction of the wind, trimming the sails to optimize speed, and steering the tiller to stay on course. At the same time, they develop key skills such as coordination, teamwork, and respect for the sea and the natural environment. Ultimately, the Raquero is not just a beginner’s boat, but also a gateway into the exciting world of sailing, combining learning, safety, and enjoyment.

An event with a community spirit

The Raquero Cup is not only the end-of-summer regatta at the Club: it is also a celebration where participants, families, and the local community come together to share experiences and celebrate. This annual gathering strengthens the values of collaboration, learning, and respect for the sea, which are its true hallmarks.
