At Club Nàutic Estartit, we experience the sea with a broad perspective: as a space for sport and leisure, but also as a natural environment in constant evolution that we observe and respect every day.

A sign of the ecosystem’s state
Recently, in Empuriabrava, the presence of a nudibranch originating from the Pacific has been detected for the second time. This is a species that is uncommon in our waters, and its identification took place as part of underwater monitoring work, a fundamental task for understanding the state of our marine ecosystems.
Nudibranchs are small shell-less mollusks, known for their striking shapes and colors, which often go unnoticed unless observed carefully. Beyond their uniqueness, they are organisms particularly sensitive to environmental changes, making them good indicators of ecosystem health. For this reason, the appearance of species not usually found on the Costa Brava is not just a curiosity, but also a signal that deserves careful attention.

Understanding and anticipating changes
These kinds of findings invite us to reflect on the changes occurring in the marine environment. Factors such as rising water temperatures, altered currents, or the globalization of maritime transport can facilitate the arrival of species from other regions. Understanding these processes is key to anticipating their effects and properly managing the conservation of local biodiversity.
At Club Nàutic Estartit, we follow these observations with interest, which reinforce the importance of maintaining a responsible and committed attitude toward the environment. Our connection with the sea not only invites us to enjoy it but also to take care of it, promoting good practices and raising awareness within our community.
