La Marxa de la Dona de Torroella de Montgrí – l’Estartit: a fun, family-friendly and charitable walk to mark 8-M

The Marxa de la Dona de Torroella de Montgrí – l’Estartit, taking place on Sunday 8 March 2026 at 10 am, is a family-friendly, non-competitive walk with a strong charitable focus, held as part of the events marking 8 March, International Women’s Day. It is open to everyone and invites participants to share a positive experience while contributing to worthy causes.

Organised by Torroella de Montgrí Town Council, Petit Montgrí en Moviment and Club Esportiu Trail Running Montgrí, the event offers routes adapted to different ages and fitness levels, encouraging intergenerational participation and physical activity in a festive and meaningful atmosphere.

Available routes

The walk offers two main routes designed to suit different paces and ages. Both start and finish at the same location, the Museu de la Mediterrània at Can Quintana:

  • 5 km short route: a circular course with no significant elevation gain, ideal for participants of all ages and abilities, including families with children.
  • 10 km long route: designed for those who would like a slightly more demanding walk while enjoying a relaxed and friendly environment.

Full route details will be published a few days before the event on the organisation’s social media channels.

A socially committed event

One of the key pillars of the Marxa de la Dona is its charitable purpose. Funds raised through registrations are allocated to initiatives linked to the fight against cancer through the projects Oncotrail, Oncotriatló and Oncogravel.

Oncotrail is a team-based charity race organised by Fundació Oncolliga Girona, which raises funds to improve the quality of life of people affected by cancer and their families. The funds support psychological care, social assistance, physiotherapy, financial aid and other essential services.

Oncotriatló and Oncogravel share the same charitable spirit, promoting sport as a tool for raising awareness and funds for cancer research and patient support. Through these initiatives, sport becomes a platform for active solidarity and collective commitment.

Taking part in the Marxa de la Dona is therefore much more than going for a walk; it is a direct contribution to projects that have a real impact on the lives of many people in our region.

From the Club Nàutic Estartit, we encourage our members and friends to join this event that brings together sport, community and solidarity. It is an opportunity to walk together, strengthen bonds and support causes that matter to us all.
