On Saturday, 16 May, we hosted the closing event for the northern area of the Esport Blau Escolar programme, an initiative that introduces water sports to students from coastal municipalities in Catalunya, with the aim of encouraging continuity through the club’s sporting activities.

A family nautical day

The event brought together students and families in a festive and participatory atmosphere, marking the end of an experience that, throughout the school year, has allowed children to discover and practise different nautical disciplines such as sailing, kayaking and paddle surfing.

Participants enjoyed an ideal day for sailing, with sunshine, light swell and a thermal wind of around 10 knots. Three groups were organised so that everyone could rotate between the different activities. Attendees were able to admire the Illes Medes on board the Fillao, a schooner with two masts and an electric motor. The day also included a kayak route alongside the impressive coastal cliffs and a paddle surf activity, during which families tested their balance while enjoying the sea. A school-year closing event that leaves very positive feelings and encourages everyone to keep sailing and learning.

The event was also attended by Mr Narcís Casassa, territorial delegate of the Secretaria General de l’Esport a Girona; Mr Josep M. Isern, president of the FCV; and the president of the CNE, Mr Jordi Ponjoan.

A gateway to the nautical world

Esport Blau Escolar is a programme promoted by the Departament d’Esports, the Departament d’Educació and the Federació Catalana de Vela, in collaboration with nautical clubs and educational centres.

At the Club, we understand that the sea is part of the identity of coastal municipalities, and initiatives such as this help to make it closer and more accessible to new generations. We reaffirm our commitment to promoting sport, education in values and the dissemination of maritime culture among young people.
