IV Wingfoil Regatta: a regatta with spectacular wind and wave conditions

Sunday, April 12, the IV Wingfoil regatta was held, included in the Circuit de Catalunya and organized in collaboration with EolisKite. The wind did not disappoint and provided a splendid day with Tramuntana winds between 15 and 20 knots, fairly stable, and 1 m waves. Ideal conditions for competition.

Full speed and impressive planing

The day began with registration confirmation at the race office, followed by the skippers’ briefing, where the race director explained the starting procedure and the technical details of the course.

The competition featured 30 racers, divided into 25 riders in the Pro class and 5 in the Open class. Participants showcased all their talent on the water, flying with speed and control, delivering a true spectacle for the audience watching from the beach.

The Pro class competed on course 1 (left), while the Open class raced on course 2 (right):

The l’Estartit regatta was the first event of the Circuit Català to incorporate, for the Pro class, the same course used in the Wingfoil World Cup. This represented a challenge successfully taken on by the organization, as the course included more than 11 buoys.

The Pro class course also included a Free Fly section, where participants could only generate speed using leg power to glide over the waves, until reaching the slalom zone where they resumed using the wing.

Throughout the day, there was a fantastic atmosphere on the beach, with families and supporters cheering on the racers and creating an unbeatable environment that added even more energy to the competition.
