Espai Medes kicks off the new winter season with a programme of activities running from January to March that highlights the maritime identity of l’Estartit, its natural heritage and the dissemination of knowledge, with the sea and the Medes Islands taking centre stage.

The programme includes new proposals from the La Llongada project, such as “Dones de mar”, a session led by anthropologist Maria Ribas that revives the spirit of traditional tavern conversations and gives a voice to the women who have sustained, lived and passed on l’Estartit’s maritime culture. In the scientific field, the “Està passant a les Illes Medes” series will feature talks by biologists Bernat Hereu and Cristina Linares (University of Barcelona), focusing on the state of marine biodiversity and the challenges posed by climate change.

A key new feature of the programme is a geological boat trip guided by Joan Solà, offering the opportunity to discover the origin and formation of the Medes Islands’ landscape, which is essential to understanding their present-day uniqueness.

With this winter programme, Espai Medes reaffirms its commitment to the local area and offers activities open to everyone, encouraging a deeper appreciation of l’Estartit’s natural and cultural richness.
All activities require prior booking. For further information, schedules and registration details, please visit the Espai Medes website and its usual communication channels.
