In full momentum to learn: school sailing has returned with great strength

With the month of October, at the CNE Activity Center we have welcomed a new season of school sailing at the Club Nàutic Estartit, an initiative that transforms the sea into an open classroom full of learning, discovery, and values. The first groups of students have already begun their sessions with schools and high schools from the town and the surrounding region, who, year after year, trust the Club to experience this unique educational opportunity.

At the CNE Activity Center, school sailing is much more than learning to handle a boat. For us, it is an educational tool that connects children and adolescents with the natural environment and helps them grow as individuals. In each session, students:

  • Experience the sea and the marine ecosystem from a hands-on perspective.
  • Learn to navigate a nautical environment with autonomy, safety, and responsibility.
  • Develop skills such as coordination, decision-making, and teamwork.
  • Discover the importance of respect for nature and sustainability.

This methodology combines sports practice with values education, making every day at sea an experience of personal and collective growth.

From school to the sea

At the Club Nàutic Estartit, we collaborate with various educational centers in the area, such as Institut Montgrí, Institut Salvador Espriu, and Escola Portitxol, to offer programs tailored to each educational stage. The youngest students discover the sea with curiosity and enthusiasm, while secondary school and vocational students deepen their knowledge of sailing techniques and professional skills related to sports and the natural environment. For example, students in the Natural Environment Guide and Leisure Time (GUIAMN) program, in addition to learning how to sail, gain knowledge to plan and lead nautical activities as future professionals in the sector. In this way, school sailing becomes a gateway to the nautical world and new professional vocations.

Learning to sail is learning to live

Sailing teaches much more than it seems at first glance. Sailing involves observing, analyzing, communicating, and cooperating. Every maneuver requires coordination and trust; every decision demands responsibility and environmental awareness. These skills are transferable to any area of life, making sailing a complete educational experience. Our instructors are certified and have extensive experience in nautical training and education, which allows them to adapt each session to the group and students’ ages, ensuring learning that is safe, motivating, and respectful of the marine environment.

School sailing is part of our Club’s commitment to education, sustainability, and the promotion of maritime culture. We believe that experiencing the sea from within is essential to learning to love and protect it, which is why we promote educational activities that raise environmental awareness and foster respect for our privileged natural surroundings: the Medes Islands and the Montgrí Natural Park.
