In October, we are reopening the careening and painting service: you can now bring your hull back to life

In October, activity in the Club’s technical area resumes! We know that the care and maintenance of boats is essential to ensure safe, enjoyable, and long-lasting navigation. To carry out proper maintenance, this is the procedure we follow:

1. Hull cleaning with high-pressure water

The first step after removing the boat from the water is to clean the hull with high-pressure washing. Using pressurized water, we remove: algae residues and superficial incrustations, dirt accumulated during navigation, and old layers of salt deposits that damage the materials. This process restores the hull to a clean appearance and prepares the surface for the following maintenance work.

2. Application of antifouling paint

At the Club, we use a special type of marine antifouling paint that is applied to the submerged part of the boat with the aim of preventing the formation of marine incrustations such as algae, mollusks, crustaceans, or other organisms. When the boat remains in the water, these living beings tend to adhere to the surface, which can cause significant problems:

• Reduction of speed: the hull becomes rougher and offers more resistance to the water.
• Increased fuel consumption: the engine has to work harder to maintain the same speed.
• Material deterioration: the constant presence of incrustations accelerates corrosion and hull wear.

At the Club, waste management is a priority

At Club Nàutic Estartit, we believe that this responsibility goes beyond the boat itself: in addition to carrying out hull care and painting, we must also protect the marine environment that surrounds us. That is why we take great care in the collection of solid waste and the treatment of wastewater. Our facilities are equipped to ensure the responsible management of waste generated during boat maintenance tasks. We have specific systems for the collection, treatment, and delivery of this waste to authorized managers, complying with current regulations and with a strong environmental commitment:

  • Solid waste collection: Waste is deposited in specific containers and tanks, which are stored at the recycling point until sufficient quantities have accumulated. Afterwards, an authorized company (FFCC) takes care of their removal and proper management.
  • Wastewater treatment: The water used in the cleaning processes passes through a grate and is directed to a tank. There, it undergoes a purification process and, once clean, it is discharged into the corresponding water network.

With these procedures, we ensure proper management, minimizing environmental impact and preserving the marine environment. Do you want to keep your boat in top condition? Discover our services!
