The International Finn Class Association (IFA) recently held its 2025 Annual General Meeting, during which key topics concerning the future of this iconic sailing class were discussed. Among the most significant news for Catalan sailing, and especially for the Costa Brava, is the selection of our Club as the host venue for the 2027 Open European Championship. We are extremely proud of this achievement and celebrate it with great enthusiasm!

Club Nàutic Estartit: new venue for a major international event

During the championship allocation section, it was officially confirmed that L’Estartit will be the venue for the Open European Championship in 2027. This event will bring together the best Finn class sailors from across Europe and around the world, further strengthening L’Estartit’s position as a nautical reference point in the Mediterranean. The privileged natural setting, port infrastructure, and organizational experience were key factors in the selection of this bid.

Finn Class: an iconic dinghy sailing boat

The Finn Class is one of the most iconic boats in the world of dinghy sailing. Designed in 1949 by Rickard Sarby, this single-handed boat has become a symbol of technique, strength, and strategy at the highest level of competition. Despite changes in the Olympic sailing program, the Finn Class maintains an active and passionate community around the world, with both veteran sailors and young talents continuing to train and compete in national and international championships.
