The Club Nàutic Estartit is pleased to announce the signing of a new cooperation protocol between the Unió de Villes Portuaires d’Occitanie (UVPO) and l’Associació Catalana de Ports Esportius i Turístics (ACPET). This agreement was signed on June 27, 2024, in El Port de la Selva and represents a significant step in promoting navigation and boat traffic in the regions of Catalonia and Occitania.
Objectives of the new protocol between UVPO and ACPET
The protocol’s main objective is to foster cross-border cooperation in port and navigation matters, increasing the positive socio-economic impact through collaboration between the ports of Catalonia and Occitania. Therefore, the signatories commit to:
- Promotion of Maritime Traffic: Intensify the traffic of sports and recreational boats through promotional actions and the exchange of resources and information between the ports of both regions.
- Sustainability and Biodiversity: Propose and implement the best navigation and anchoring practices, especially in natural parks and sensitive protection areas, with the aim of protecting biodiversity.
- Adaptation to Climate Change: Share techniques and experiences to address climate change mitigation and adaptation and the energy transition in port infrastructures.

- The protocol’s main objective is to foster cross-border cooperation in port and navigation matters, increasing the positive socio-economic impact through collaboration between the ports of Catalonia and Occitania. Therefore, the signatories commit to:
- Promotion of Maritime Traffic: Intensify the traffic of sports and recreational boats through promotional actions and the exchange of resources and information between the ports of both regions.
- Sustainability and Biodiversity: Propose and implement the best navigation and anchoring practices, especially in natural parks and sensitive protection areas, with the aim of protecting biodiversity.
- Adaptation to Climate Change: Share techniques and experiences to address climate change mitigation and adaptation and the energy transition in port infrastructures.
- Sports and Cultural Events: Support and promote cross-border sports and cultural activities, including interclub regattas and events related to maritime heritage.
- Training and Sectoral Studies: Share studies and professional training actions that benefit both regions, fostering development and innovation in the nautical sector.
The signatories also commit to drafting a detailed work plan and conducting annual monitoring of the activities carried out. This protocol will be in force for three years, with the possibility of automatic renewal for two additional one-year periods.

With this agreement, a strategic alliance is consolidated that will allow the development of joint projects, the sharing of knowledge and resources, and the promotion of a more sustainable and environmentally friendly navigation model. The Club Nàutic Estartit, as an active part of this process, reaffirms its commitment to innovation, sustainability, and the development of the nautical sector at both regional and cross-border levels.
