This weekend, at the Club N\u00e0utic Estartit, we organized the XXIX Trofeu Illes Medes<\/strong>, a regatta that is part of the annual sports calendar of the Club N\u00e0utic Estartit. This trophy is aimed at the Europa and Optimist classes<\/strong>, two disciplines strongly focused on the development of young sailors.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/div>\n\n\n\n

This year, the regatta was N2 scoring for the Classe Europa, a category that brings together junior and senior sailors in single-handed boats, and N3 for the North Zone ranking of Optimist, the most widespread youth class worldwide and one of the main entry points to competitive sailing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This format makes the Trofeu Illes Medes a perfect event for the sporting development of the participants and, at the same time, a gathering that promotes grassroots nautical activity in our territory.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Saturday: two races thanks to the arrival of the Xaloc<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
<\/div>\n\n\n\n

The first day was marked by variable wind conditions. <\/strong>The Xaloc did not settle until midday, but from 1:00 p.m. it reached intensities of up to 10 knots, which allowed two races to be held<\/strong> for each class.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This format makes the Trofeu Illes Medes a benchmark event for the sporting development of the participants and, at the same time, a gathering that promotes grassroots nautical activity in our territory.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sunday: day affected by the absence of wind<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
<\/div>\n\n\n\n

On Sunday, the first scheduled race began, but the wind dropped shortly afterward and did not return. At 2:30 p.m., in accordance with the race notice and the weather conditions, it was decided to end the day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Subsequently, at 3:45 p.m., the awards ceremony was held, with the attendance of the Club president, Mr. Jordi Ponjoan, the representative of the Federaci\u00f3 Catalana de Vela in Girona, Mr. Josep Medi\u00f1\u00e0, and the national secretary of the Classe Europa, Mr. Adri\u00e0 Morata.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

                        Despite the irregular weather conditions, the XXIX Trofeu Illes Medes<\/strong> was able to take advantage of the small window of wind over the weekend; thanks to the good work of the entire race committee, the maximum number of races possible were held.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
