They are currently being monitored by <strong>scientists and local organizations <\/strong>to control their spread and minimize their impact.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Main invasive species and their impact on the Costa Brava<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>1. Blue crab (<em>Callinectes sapidus<\/em>)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Originally from the <strong>North American Atlantic coast,<\/strong> the<strong> blue crab<\/strong> has colonized estuaries such as the mouth of the River Ter. It is a highly competitive species that displaces local crabs and other benthic organisms. Its presence alters the marine food chain and competes intensely for resources. Its spread threatens to displace key species such as <strong><em>Posidonia oceanica<\/em>.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" marine invasive species<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>The most effective way to contribute to the fight against marine invasive species is to actively <strong>participate in their early detection and management. <\/strong>Joining local initiatives such as the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.minka-sdg.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.minka-sdg.org\/\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">MINKA Project<\/a><\/strong> allows people to provide georeferenced data on marine and terrestrial organisms, collected by the community itself and analyzed by experts.<strong> This citizen science platform encourages anyone to share their observations on a personal profile,<\/strong> generate discussion about them, and later access professional validation and expert opinions, thereby promoting biodiversity conservation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\"
