The Costa Brava has witnessed a hopeful event for Mediterranean biodiversity: the discovery of a loggerhead turtle (Caretta caretta<\/em>) nest on the beach of Sant Feliu de Gu\u00edxols<\/a>, just 45 km from our Club. <\/strong>This event reinforces not only the crucial role of the Catalan coastline in the conservation of marine species, but also the importance of the values of sustainability, environmental protection, and education that our Club promotes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Conservation in its purest form: a naturally protected nest<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Thanks to the collaboration between CRAM<\/strong>, rural officers, and volunteers<\/strong>, it was possible to preserve a nest containing 101 eggs without the need to relocate it, thus ensuring a natural and undisturbed incubation process. The quality of the environment, the stability of the sand, and the low level of human intervention were key factors, reminding us that respectful coexistence with nature<\/strong> is possible when we act with responsibility and commitment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The appearance of loggerhead turtle nests in Catalonia is an increasingly frequent phenomenon, driven by the rise in sea temperatures. Although climate change represents a global challenge, it also opens new avenues for action for committed entities like ours, which have been implementing adaptation and mitigation measures for years as part of our sustainability and blue economy strategy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

These types of events highlight the need for robust biodiversity management protocols \u2014 an area already integrated into Club N\u00e0utic Estartit\u2019s action plan, along with environmental monitoring and other initiatives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
