At Club N\u00e0utic Estartit, one of our main commitments is to ensure the safety of vessels while preserving the marine environment in which we operate. <\/strong>That\u2019s why we regularly carry out maintenance of the port\u2019s mooring lines<\/strong>\u2014an essential task that is often overlooked, but crucial for the proper functioning of our facilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What are mooring lines?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Mooring lines are the systems that allow boats to be securely tied up inside the harbor. They are made up of a set of components\u2014sinkers (or deadweights), chains, buoys, and shackles\u2014<\/strong>that ensure each vessel remains stable in its position, even in adverse weather conditions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This system not only provides stability and order within the harbor basin but also prevents collisions, reduces the risk of damage, and ensures a peaceful stay for both boats and their crews.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Maintenance: a technical and rigorous task<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
<\/div>\n\n\n\n

The maintenance of mooring lines is carried out in a planned and systematic manner. It includes tasks such as:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/div>\n\n\n\n

\u2022 Underwater inspection<\/strong> of all system components
\u2022 Replacement of worn or corroded<\/strong> chains and shackles
\u2022 Review of sinkers<\/strong> to ensure their stability on the seabed
\u2022 Inspection of buoys and mooring lines<\/strong>
\u2022 Cleaning and waste control<\/strong> to prevent damaged parts from polluting the sea<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This time, the work lasted nearly four weeks. The chains were replaced along gangways 100, the floating pontoon, the first section of the central quay, and the expansion gangway in the water area.<\/strong> At the same time, pontoons A, Garb\u00ed, and the central quay were inspected.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A team of 5 professional divers <\/strong>took part in the work, supported by our entire crew of marina staff.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To carry out these tasks, four types of chains were used: 12, 14, 16, and 18\u202fmm, for a total combined length of 3,250 meters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

These interventions are carried out in accordance with the criteria established by port and environmental regulations, and are documented to ensure traceability and technical oversight of the process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
