An artist and captain inspired by the horizon<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Guillermo Basagoiti<\/a> is a unique Asturian artist who combines two seemingly distant but deeply interconnected professions: boat captain and contemporary sculptor.<\/strong> For some time now, at Club N\u00e0utic Estartit<\/strong>, we have been fortunate to benefit from his artistic perspective and his commitment to the marine environment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/div>\n\n\n\n

For Basagoiti, the sea is not just a workplace, but a narrative, symbolic, and poetic space. Every wave, every port structure<\/strong>, every trace left on the sand or concrete can become a work of art. This vision has organically aligned with the values and mission of our club: sustainability, maritime identity, and cultural engagement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/div>\n\n\n\n

\u201cTrack 8M\u201d: memory that leaves a mark<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
<\/div>\n\n\n\n

One of Guillermo\u2019s most recent works, Track 8M<\/strong>, was selected by the prestigious Biennal d\u2019Art de Girona<\/a><\/strong>. This piece stems from an apparently ephemeral detail: the mark left on the ground by the wheels of the travellift.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/div>\n\n\n\n

This visual trace became a creative turning point.<\/strong> Basagoiti decided to carry out a engraving by direct printing<\/strong>, capturing the tire marks to explore the mechanics of memory, repetition, and remembrance. Thus, the piece invites us to reflect on what remains\u2014both physically and symbolically\u2014after movement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The relationship between Club N\u00e0utic Estartit and Guillermo Basagoiti goes far beyond a one-time collaboration. In recent years, he has developed several artistic projects with strong symbolic and ecological value<\/strong>, fully integrated into the life and activity of the port:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/div>\n\n\n\n

An autonomous robotic piece that sailed at sea, streamed in real time, and explored themes of loss and memory.<\/strong> A project of technological and emotional art that connected the public with the idea of return, search, and absence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A sculpture in the shape of a giant tuna<\/strong>, designed as a plastic container <\/strong>to encourage recycling in the port. With this work, Guillermo puts art at the service of environmental awareness<\/strong>, in line with the Club\u2019s sustainability goals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the renovation works of the Club\u2019s infrastructure, Basagoiti extracted fragments of concrete that were cut and transformed into artistic pieces. This project connects the past and present of the port space<\/strong>, turning construction materials into tangible artistic memories.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
